James (Jim) T. Gwinn Sr, 76, of Houston, TX died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 27,2017 following a heart attack.
Jim was born on August 14, 1940 in Sedalia, MO to Howard J and Margaret Berry Gwinn. He is a 1958 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia, MO. On August 25, 1962 he married Martha Jo Hudson of St. Louis, MO. The two met while earning their Associate of Arts degrees at Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, MO. James (Jim) T. Gwinn Sr, 76, of Houston, TX died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 27,2017 following a heart attack.
Jim was born on August 14, 1940 in Sedalia, MO to Howard J and Margaret Berry Gwinn. He is a 1958 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia, MO. On August 25, 1962 he married Martha Jo Hudson of St. Louis, MO. The two met while earning their Associate of Arts degrees at Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, MO. Following marriage and the birth of his children, James (Jim) T. Gwinn Jr and Patricia (Patty) Margaret Gwinn, he received a Bachelor of Accounting degree from Central Missouri State University. Jim worked as an accountant throughout his career in various locations including St. Louis, MO; Chicago, IL; Johannesburg, South Africa; Miami, FL and Houston, TX. In addition to his accounting career, Jim was a servant worker in churches he attended including First Baptist Church, Weston, FL and Tallowood Baptist Church, Houston, TX.
Jim is survived by his wife, Martha, along with his son, Jim Jr and wife Jana Bedgood Gwinn as well as daughter, Patty. He is also survived by his sisters, Delores J Wheeler and Ruth Ann Huie and husband Larry Huie. Other survivors include, a niece, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home on Monday, July 31,2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at Tallowood Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the worship center.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Tallowood Baptist Church for the improvement and development of the Round Top Retreat Center.
